Remembering Dr. King — And the Challenge

This weekend is the weekend we commemorate the life, witness and leadership of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This week, the ECC Truth and Reconciliation Commission convened the first of five gatherings to awaken and empower our communion to the critical need to dismantle racism in our nation. Rather than provide a reflection, I invite you to take time to watch this amazing video that was shared and discussed. It is a reading of the critical (in both senses of the word!) letter Dr. King wrote to the “moderate” white clergy of Birmingham. It is both prophetic and timely, particularly as we as a community work to build our safety as a welcoming and diverse praying community.
I hope to see many of you this weekend.
